Periods of a Woman

I am a girl!
I'm in love...

Fuck him...

I go to the self defence course
I am a fighter

I try to be a lesbian
I am a lover!

wedding.... well...
I'm already a mother

I'm already a servant well...
it could be worse...

it was worth... I'm already a granny.

This is our beloved girl, fighter, mother, wife, servant, lover, bride, granny, daughter, worker, slave...
...and what now...?
...we have to find another one...

Rublov - Zizek - Rodchenko – Marks - Lolita – Lenin - Sierakowski– Sasnal – Krasnal

Between 12-14 May Slavoj Zizek provides lectures around Poland promoting the book „The Fragile Absolute”.

The Krasnals. Whielki Krasnal „Pioneer Girl after Rodchenko / The Road from the icon to the photograph is long”. 2009. Acrylic on canvas. 33 x 27 cm

The wager of Zizek’s The Fragile Absolute is that Christianity and Marxism should fight together against the onslaught of new spiritualism. The subversive core of the Christian legacy is much too precious to be left to the fundamentalists. Here is a fitting contribution from a Marxist to the 2000th anniversary of one who was well aware that to practice love in our world is to bring in the sword and fire.
He presents Christian message about redemption which gives the model for real left emancipation. The effect of successful sexual diversion. Polish church and conservative intellectuals are not so much interested in past or actual Christian reflection. It’s worth to look at contemporary left thought which is inspired by it.

About Art Cologne 2009

This year Art Cologne was dominated by abstract art and works on 2 dimension surface. We could seldom notice works from critical art sphere, provocative or controversial.

In the middle of the exhibition space there was the sector of Open Space presentations. Here were presented galleries chosen by 3 curators - Vasiv Kortun, Stefanie Kreuzer, Beatrix Ruf. The concept was to choose younger, less commercial galleries and artists.

In Open Space there was present one Polish gallery – Program from Warsaw – presenting drawings by Mariusz Tarkawian. The artists often refers to artworks of other artists, and he made also drawings based on The Krasnals paintings for the December issue of Arteon – Polish art monthly.

The second Polish accent was Radek Szlaga, his paintings were presented by gallery Neue Bilder from Berlin.

Vernissage TV had its booth in the middle of Open Space, there was also the lounge place for meetings, talks, and interviews. In this place was presented on 2 screens a curated video art program of Vernissage TV with the following artists: Matthew Green, G.H.
